Creating Your Account

Getting Started

Creating an Impactful account takes just a few minutes. You can sign up using your email address, your Google account, or your Apple ID (on iOS). After signing up, you will complete a short registration flow to personalise your experience and set up your profile.

Note: You must be at least 13 years old to create an Impactful account.

Sign Up with Email

To create your account using an email address:

1. Open the Impactful app. The authentication screen defaults to Sign in.
2. Tap the Sign up toggle to switch to the registration view.
3. Enter your email address in the Email field.
4. Create a password that meets the following requirements:
   • Minimum character length (as shown on screen)
   • At least one uppercase letter
   • At least one lowercase letter
   • At least one number
   • At least one special character
5. Tap Sign Up to submit your details.
6. A dialog confirms that a verification email has been sent. Tap Close and check your inbox.
7. Tap the verification link in the email, then return to the app and sign in.

Tip: Use a personal email address you check regularly. You will need access to it to verify your account and for any future password recovery. If you do not see the email, check your spam or junk folder.

Sign Up with Google

You can use your Google account to sign up on both iOS and Android devices:

1. On the authentication screen, tap Google.
2. Select the Google account you want to use, or sign in to your Google account if prompted.
3. Grant the requested permissions to allow Impactful to access your basic profile information.
4. Your account will be created automatically using your Google account details.

Tip: If you have multiple Google accounts on your device, make sure you select the one you want linked to your Impactful profile.

Sign Up with Apple

If you are using an iPhone or iPad, you can sign up with your Apple ID:

1. On the authentication screen, tap Apple.
2. Confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, or your Apple ID password.
3. Choose whether to share your email address or use Apple's Hide My Email feature, which creates a private relay address.
4. Your account will be created automatically using your Apple ID details.

Note: Sign in with Apple is only available on iOS devices. If you later switch to an Android device, you may need to set up an email and password for your account.

Date of Birth Verification

After signing in for the first time, you will be asked to provide your date of birth:

1. Tap Select Date of Birth to open the calendar picker.
2. Select your date of birth.
3. Toggle the confirmation: I confirm I am at least 13 years of age.
4. Tap Continue to proceed.

Impactful requires your date of birth to confirm you meet the minimum age requirement of 13 years. This information is kept private and is not displayed on your profile.

Choosing Your Interests

Next, you will be presented with a list of volunteer categories to choose from:

1. Browse the available categories, such as community support, environmental action, education, and more.
2. Tap each category that interests you to select it. You can choose as many as you like.
3. Tap Continue when you are happy with your selections.

Your chosen categories help Impactful recommend relevant activities and opportunities near you. You can update your interests at any time from your profile.

Adding Your Bio

The app will generate a bio for you using AI based on your profile details. You can review and edit the suggested text or write your own. Tap Save and continue when you are happy with it.

Terms and Conditions

Before completing registration, you will be asked to review and accept the Impactful terms and conditions. Tap the link to read the full terms, then confirm your acceptance to continue.

Setting Up Location Permissions

The final step of registration is granting location permissions. Impactful uses your location to find impact activities and opportunities near you. Enabling location services ensures you see the most relevant results for your area.

Tip: You can change location permissions at any time in your device settings. Other permissions like notifications and camera access are requested later when you need those features.

Forgot Your Password

If you already have an account but cannot remember your password, tap Forgot Password on the sign-in screen. Enter your email address and you will receive a link to reset your password.

Tips for a Smooth Sign-Up

• Make sure you have a stable internet connection before starting the registration process.
• Use a strong, unique password that you do not use for other accounts.
• Complete all registration steps in one session to avoid having to restart.
