Notifications

The Messages tab keeps you informed about everything happening on Impactful — from activity updates and organisation news to registration approvals and membership changes.

Accessing Notifications

Tap the Messages tab in the bottom navigation bar (the third tab). An unread count badge appears on the tab icon when you have new notifications.

Notification Categories

Notifications are grouped by category. Use the filter chips at the top of the screen to view specific types:

Tap a category chip to filter the list. Tap All to return to the full view.

Reading Notifications

Each notification shows:

• Title — a brief summary of what happened
• Body — additional details about the notification
• Timestamp — when the notification was sent
• Image — a relevant image (if included)

Tap any notification to view more details or navigate to the related item (such as an activity, organisation, or registration).

Managing Notifications

Marking as Read

• Single notification — tap a notification to mark it as read
• All notifications — tap the Mark All as Read button at the top of the screen to clear all unread indicators

Unread Indicators

Unread notifications appear with a visual indicator. Once you tap a notification or mark all as read, the indicator disappears and the badge count on the tab updates.

Notification Types

Here are the most common notifications you will receive:

Organisation Notifications

• Membership accepted — your join request was approved
• Membership rejected — your join request was not approved
• Membership removed — you have been removed from an organisation
• Organisation broadcast — a message from an organisation you follow or are a member of

Activity Notifications

• Registration approved — you have been approved for an event
• Registration rejected — your event registration was not approved
• Activity updates — changes to activities you are registered for
• Completion confirmations — your activity completion was recorded

Tip: Enable push notifications in your device settings to receive alerts even when the app is closed. You can manage this from your device's notification settings.

Troubleshooting

I am not receiving notifications

• Check that notifications are enabled for Impactful in your device settings
• Make sure you granted notification permissions during setup
• Check that you are signed in to the app

Notifications are not loading

• Pull down on the notifications list to refresh
• Check your internet connection
• Try closing and reopening the app
